20 Oct 2005
Early morning — the east patio for the North Wing bedrooms is poured. The white blobs in the center of the slab are lichen-covered rocks protected by plastic. The concrete is stained and will be tinted, textured and cut to match the other patios and entry.

This is the inspiration for this month's music.

24 Oct 2005
First coat of stucco is on. This starts to give some idea of how the stone work on the house flows into the rock wall over the west end of the garage. There are 3 coats; the final coat will be a light sage green, somewhat like the background of this page.

25 Oct 2005
Starting the wood ceiling in the Great Room. The wall color matches the background of this page, as does the outside; using similar colors should help connect the inside and outside. We chose the color February, 2004 and started using it in the web pages then. (curvature of beams is due to "fish-eye" effect)

25 Oct 2005
Front door and arched transom. The area around the door will be stone. The door itself is 4' wide. The orange rectangles in the stained glass go well with the color of the door and match many of the light fixtures we have selected.

25 Oct 2005
The South Patio. 4 doors connect it to the Great Room, Dining Room and Kitchen. Workmen enjoy sitting on the rocks and eating lunch.

25 Oct 2005
Pauline goes down the steps from the "Hot Tub Patio" to what will be the lowest patio outside the Media Room.

25 Oct 2005
A panorama of the west end. This is a side of the house few people will see. The covered area right of the garage doors will be fenced in so the dogs can have a protected outdoor area.

26 Oct 2005
Preparing the garage roof. This is the waterproof membrane; next come several inches of sand, filter fabric and a couple of feet of topsoil. Smoke from the roof is the mason cutting rock.

27 Oct 2005
The garage roof is now covered. We plan to direct water from the roof into gutters that empty into a decorative dry stream bed to take rain and snow melt out along the retaining wall at extreme right.

31 Oct 2005
First "spark arrestor" going on.

31 Oct 2005
Second "spark arrestor" going on. The structures will be covered with metal roofing to match the rest of the roof.

03 Nov 2005
Working on the timber trim in the Great Room. Note the tongue and groove fir ceiling.

11 Nov 2005
Knee braces at the south of the Great Room

13 Nov 2005
Burning slash from when the driveway was created. The west end of the Main House is visible through the trees right of center.

14 Nov 2005
Shower in one of the North Wing bedrooms. The tile and other plumbing is not finished.
