11 Jul 2006
This is the setup to move gravel into the West foundation area. Looks like the boom truck barely fit into the lower drive area!

11 Jul 2006
The boom and the compactor (small yellow vehicle) are run by remote control so the operator can be at a safe distance, but close enough to see what is happening.

11 Jul 2006
Compacted fill gives lateral support to piers that hold foundation and structural walls for the eastern half. There are four more steps: the retaining wall for the 2nd Mechanical Room, a concrete beam poured over the piers, more fill, and the foundation walls poured over the beam. This should take us to mid August.

11 Jul 2006
Pauline watches the fill operation [1.25MB movie].

11 Jul 2006
East end fill operation from the upper parking lot.

17 Jul 2006
Early morning slab work. Note Wine Cellar slab at left; it is insulated from the main slab to inhibit heat exchange in or out.

17 Jul 2006
GRS / PMCS etched in 2nd Mechanical Room slab

20 Jul 2006
Arched beams for the Great Room. The arched portion is 20' across. The extended corbel on the right of the arch in the foreground indicates this is the southern arch. This was done for structural reasons.

20 Jul 2006
Notched planks for the rafters.

26 Jul 2006
2nd Mechanical Room and retaining wall (right and bottom)

26 Jul 2006
Prefitting timbers for the Entry; This should save time a few months down the road
