Phil and Brian work on the rafters for the Master Bedroom patio at the East end of the house. The patio surface will come up to the base of the timber knee braces.

Detail of the eave trim, with fascia still to be added. The soffit is tongue and groove. The small block in the timbers that support the rafters is a tenon to join two timbers that have open mortises.

12"x15" timber separating the Great Room from the Dining Room. A 12"x18"x26' timber will sit on top of it and provide most of the structural strength; until then the attached 2"x10" planks make sure the notch in the 12"x15" beam does not split.

Yesterday the roof was covered with snow. We worked hard to clear it so the roofers could get started today. Sun, wind and warmer temperatures dried out even the North side of the roof.

The first metal panels are applied to the East end of the roof. Pauline stands by the machine that makes the panels.

The North roof is done, a job that previously was not finished until August of 2005 due to the difficulties of stabilizing the piers that support the Entry structure. Snow guards are also on, so we won't have to worry about snow sliding off and injuring someone. The South side of the roof is still waiting for large timbers to be placed.
